We started walking almost immediately, her pace faster than mine, and she moved through the crowded early evening streets with such nimbleness that I was once or twice momentarily left behind. Our conversation kept a matching tempo, as ideas and plans and observations unspooled from her head, one after another. It hardly surprised me to hear that she enjoys directing as much as acting -- both roles involve managing layers of complexity with coolness and drive. Brooklyn-based actor, writer, and director Asta Paredes still has almost her whole career ahead of her, and she's only just begun picking up steam.
